Mint Of The United States At San Francisco Type II oval hallmark, 5 oz class serial numbered ingots appear within the 25 oz class cast series that numerically spans from low double digit serial numbers to No. 2000.  The 25 oz class cast ingot registry includes some 150 examples of both Type II oval hallmark and round dated hallmark ingots; 5 oz class serial numbered ingots fall within the numerical range and fineness of 1956.

The three Mint Of The United States At San Francisco silver ingots pictured here are the only Type II oval hallmark, 5 oz class examples that I have ever seen; all are in the United States Government Silver Ingot Collection of Ken Conaway.

All three ingots are within tenths of the size standard set by Type I oval hallmark ingots; 1.25 inches by 2.00 inches. Ingots No. 544 and No. 545 are slightly over the 2.00 inch dimension while ingot No. 217 is slightly under. When reviewing Type I oval hallmark sizes, I noted the tight tolerances but these all miss that tolerance of hundredths.

Even though I present these separately, I believe the Type II oval hallmark, 5 oz class serial numbered ingots are a unique phenomenon within the 25 oz class cast series.  The registry shows that there are a few other non-25 oz sizes within this class, +/-10 oz, +/-50 oz and +/-100 oz, all more common than the 5 oz class shown here.
